We need a Virile Ijaw Mouthpiece

Let us welcome you to our November 2003, edition of Ijaw News with the thinking of this Great Philosopher Charles Kettering who posit that. The word failure means lack of success, state of not adequate, non performance of what is normally expected or required. Therefore he explained that, the world need to be taught that it should not be a disgrace in most cases when one fails and that we must analyse every failure to find it cause. Adding that we must learn how to fail intelligently for failing is one of the greatest acts in the world.

Having cited that we go on to postulate that failure is not usually the end of the world or mankind, as we must remember that, it was recorded that man failed in the Garden of Eden. Thank God this was not the end of mankind or the World. It isn’t that we fail when we try and try but that we failed when we fail to try.

Opportunities are laid down for man when he fails to rise up and try again. For failure is only the opportunity to try again intelligently. This is what we can learn from life of the prodigal son. Some one who failed but he rose above his failure.

Ones approach to failure really matters. Failure can become a weigh down or it can give you wings to fly higher next time around. Failure is the only thing that can be achieved without much effort. One major formular to fail is try and trying to please everyone.

Failure and hard times can bring one to a point of actualization which is why the Bible says – Give thanks to God for whatever situation one finds him or herself in.

As we reckon that most biographies, are written by those who went through life the hard and tough way.

Therefore the Ijaw ethnic nationality should give thanks for whatever situation we find ourselves and hold faith in God Almighty by working most consciously in Ijaw unity for its only by that, the Ijaw nationality can come out of this hopeless situation of neglect, deprivation and underdevelopment.

This is the platform on which the Ijaw News is guided. Hence our editorial policy revolves round the promotion, propagation, protection and projection of the Ijaw culture and values. Gradually we are coming to terms with our perceived mission and vision.

Today one of the prides of the Ijaw News is the commendation it receives from its numerous readers. Then most importantly another thing of joy is our reach out in terms of circulation.

Therefore we once again use this opportunity to solicit for your patronage and assistance.

As Ijaws we need a virile and powerful mouth piece that should be circulated within our communities so that at every given point in time the average Ijaw indigene should know the stand point of the Ijaw agitations so that they can argue in that light. That goes a long way to harmonise the Ijaw position in the Nigeria question.

To this Ijaw News comes handy as a vehicle for deliberation of Ijaw issues and a subtle way to disseminate information within the Ijaw nationality. But we must not fail to appreciate the implications of that, as reporting news in our difficult terrain is an Herculean task, considering the difficulties like accessibility and poor telecommunication systems which even is not readily available.

Therefore we implore our numerous readers and subscribers to bear with us as we are yet to cover extensively the length and breadth of Ijaw nationality stretching from Apoi/Arogbo in Ondo State through Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa-Ibom States.

We are making efforts to reach out to well over 15 million strong and peace loving Ijaw nationality in their respective place of abode. So far, besides major Ijaw communities, we also circulate the Ijawnews in designated points in Lagos, Abuja, Lokoja, Kaduna, Benin, United Kingdom and The United States. To cap it up, we can be accessed on the Internet. Our Website is: http://ijawnews.tripod.com.
